Mobile Applications for Blackberry and Samsung Instinct
Mobile Applications for Blackberry and Samsung Instinct
At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held January 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada, InfoWave had a huge stake to celebrate. Working at breakneck speed to fulfil a requirement for an end client as prestigious as Sprint and AOL, InfoWave developed Rich Media Mobile applications for 6 mobile phones.
Introduction
InfoWave is a young company that focuses on providing Mobile, Multimedia and related rich media technology
solutions to its customers.
The CES is the breeding ground for new talent and every year, hundreds of companies gather under one roof to check out the competition and announce to the world what they have been up to. This is the place where phones, technology products, electronics are launched and careers are made!
At the CES stalls, one has a chance to be a part of history as off-the-line products are made available to the buyer for the very first time. At such an event, InfoWave had a chance to make its mark.

An intermediate customer approached InfoWave in November 2008 with a proposition to put InfoWave on the Mobile Map of the World. Keen to make the mark, InfoWave jumped at the offer and began collecting data that matched the specs provided by the end client Sprint and AOL.
Within 45 days, the talented team of InfoWave designers had a brand new mobile GUI on their hands. This brand new application was to be incorporated into not one or two but 6 different mobile phones including the just launched Samsung Instinct and Blackberry Storm!
Blackberry
This phone was launched in October 2008. This was also modelled to be the iPhone killer and was built as touch screen phone. The GUI built by InfoWave for Storm took into account its touch screen status and was modified accordingly.
The client specifications were thoroughly followed and the rapid application development was possible solely through the expertise of the designers and developers at InfoWave.
There was a team from nGadget that continuously shot the stalls that showcased all the different electronic goods. The video was then uploaded onto the server from which a streaming video link was available to all the Blackberry devices through the InfoWave mobile application!
Samsung Instinct
The Samsung Instinct was an eagerly awaited phone that was likely to trump the iPhone in popularity. After its launch, as part of the media drive to promote it, the CES was chosen as the perfect ground to showcase its cutting-edge features and user friendliness.
The mobile application that was designed for the Samsung Instinct was not similar to those designed for the other Blackberrys – Bold, Curve, Pearl and World.
The Instinct was a touch screen phone so the GUI was modified accordingly. Not only was it relevant to the phone, but the customer intro to the phone through the application was spectacular. This was a move designed to make mobile users sit up and take notice of Instinct and it worked!
The Mobile Application at CES
Using the client’s needs as our specification, InfoWave was able to build Mobile Applications for 6 different mobile phones catered specifically to each set within 6 weeks!
At the CES, using the superior user-friendliness of the application, InfoWave was able to launch its GUI in all 6 mobile phones. With savvy streaming video as the first use of the Interface, InfoWave made its indelible mark on the visitors of CES 2009!
